Get Your Home Ready For Spring with NCF

The spring season is full of new life, growth and fresh beginnings. With winter coming to an end and the sunshine making more of an appearance, it's time to put aside the cosy blankets and log fires and start thinking about getting your home ready for spring. Here are 8 easy ways to get each and every room in your house ready for those warmer days!

Add a splash of colour

The dark, wintery season is over and what better way to welcome in the new then by adding a pop of colour to brighten up your home. As we start to see bright spring colours emerge outside, it’s a great idea to mimic this inside as well!

Start by switching up your cushions! This is a simple way to give your sofa a fresh look and make a room feel brand new without breaking the bank. Swap out your cushions and choose light, fun designs to instantly brighten up the room - these will particularly look great on dark sofas for a bit of additional contrast.

Another great way to do this is to freshen up your bedding. As the chilly weather starts to disappear and we no longer need thick duvets, endless blankets and faux fur throws, it’s a great time to replace your bedding with lighter fabrics like cotton or linen. Choosing neutral colours can make a room feel bigger and brighter, and some subtle florals will keep your room feeling fresh and ready for spring!

Update your rug

Swap a cosy, thick rug for a light, soft or colourful design that will brighten up the room. Our Chedworth Splinter Rug features a beautiful splinted design with a hint of soft colour that will complement your home. Handmade in the softest materials, this is a lush, velvety rug; perfect for comforting tired toes or to pop under your favourite coffee table.

Bring the outdoors in

Keeping plants alive in the cold, darker months can be tricky, so spring is the perfect time to start afresh and add some spring-friendly plants that will complement your interiors and purify the air around you. An orchid will give you beautiful blooms with minimum effort, or add a Boston fern if you want a luxurious green plant to add something special to your home. Of course, nothing is stopping you from stepping out of your front door and finding some wildflowers of your own! Spring is the ideal time of year to have freshly picked flowers brightening up every room too.

Add fresh tableware

Another easy way to brighten up your home is in the kitchen. Add some Spring florals to your tableware for a bright and pretty upgrade, like this Portmeirion Water Garden Tableware Set. Choose from botanic bowls, trendy trays or colourful cutlery for that floral fix!

Brighten up your dining room

Switching up your dining room furniture can really set the scene for the new season and will make the room feel brand new. Our Marseilles Dining Chairs are a beautiful option for a bright dining room. Add a colourful centrepiece and some fresh flowers for that extra pop of spring pastels.

Find fresh scents

It’s time to swap the gingerbread and pumpkin spice candles for fresh Spring fragrances that will bring some natural goodness into your home. Fresh floral scents will create a welcoming space and can brighten the overall atmosphere of a room.

Add a statement mirror

A big part of making a room look brighter is making the room look bigger! And it’s no secret that a good mirror can do just that. Our Baroque Distressed Wall Mirror is a great statement piece that is full of character and will reflect the natural light back into the room. It’s the perfect elegant way to add a sense of space to any room or hallway.

Add baskets to reduce clutter

Christmas is well and truly over, but sometimes unnecessary clutter can still linger in kitchen drawers, magazine racks and storage boxes. An easy and stylish way to keep the clutter at bay is to get your hands on some baskets that will not only keep things tidy but will also really compliment any room.
