Get Your Home Ready For Summer

The welcome sight of the sun and the warmer weather on our skin is a sure sign that summer is on the way. Spring has brought plenty of spare time for a lot of us, and many of our houses have been benefiting from deep spring cleans. Once your home is decluttered, dusted, and decorated, it’s time to get it ready for summer. Scroll down for our top tips for getting sunshine ready - you will be feeling summery within your home in no time!

Let The Light In

You’ve got your windows squeaky clean and crystal clear, and just in time. In summer they will be used to their full potential. If you still have dark or heavy curtains from cooler months, now’s the time to swap them out for sheer or linen ones. This soft, billowy choice will promote air flow into your home and will allow the natural light to pour in. If you want a little more privacy, try adding some bamboo blinds - the light will still peak through and the bamboo look will add a beachy feel.
If you haven’t already, add a mirror or two to the walls in your reception rooms, opposite a window, to reflect the natural light back into the room. As well as enhancing the light, it will make the room look bigger and complement your decor too. Our Melody Hexagonal Wall Mirror is a stylish, modern option that can hold pride of place in any room.

Get Into The Garden.

The summer sun brings plenty of opportunity to enjoy your garden, thus also bringing the need to give it a tidy up. This is the perfect time to dig out those tools and get gardening (not to mention enjoying the sunshine whilst you do it). Mow the lawn, tidy up those borders, add some fresh flowers and pressure wash your patio - whatever your garden looks like, there will be plenty you can do to to spruce it up.
The best way to enjoy your garden is with some quality garden furniture. Whether just for you or to enjoy with your friends, having an entertaining area in your garden can be a brilliant way to enjoy the summer in comfort and style. We have a wonderful range of garden furniture available, from benches and swing seats to dining sets and picnic benches - our Wentworth Corner Lounging Set is a great option that will have you hanging out until the sun goes in. Why not invest in some outdoor lights too so you can enjoy your garden for longer.

Have Summer On Display

For the days when the sun isn’t shining, or maybe you don’t have a garden to enjoy it in - bring the summer inside your home! There are so many ways you can freshen up your decor and give it a summery feel. Add some florals to your display. This might look like a steady flow of beautiful flowers gracing your vases, or it might look like adding some floral cushions to your sofa and nature scenes to your walls. A pop of yellow is sure to bring the sunshine into your living room too - our Stantan Hiighworth Rug is a bright beautiful mood lifter for any room.
What else says summer like citrus fruits? As well as enjoying them in your drinks and your food, have some on display. A subtle and sweet way to reflect summer in your home - and might just encourage you to eat your five a day as well!

Get Stocked Up

After a good spring clean, you likely have a bit of extra cupboard space, and now is a great time to stock up on your summer essentials. Make sure the suncream and bug spray are easy to grab and keep your medicine cabinet topped up with allergy tablets too if sneezing and runny noses are a regular part of your summer experience! Have a clean out of your freezer, scrape off any excess ice and make way for the ice lollies. You might have been able to have a sort out of your wardrobe too - make sure your summery garments are easy to access and that there is plenty of room to keep your bedroom clean and tidy.

These are just a few of the ways you can get your home ready for the summer months. Why not give your BBQ a deep clean and stock up the bar too. Whatever your plans this summer, you can make sure that the time you spend at home is time well spent, whoever you are with.
