First and foremost, congratulations! Moving out for the first time is no small feat, and you should give yourself the biggest pat on the back for your efforts. All the stress and excitement will be worth it, and before long you’ll be holding the keys and setting foot into your new home. To help, we’ve compiled a room-by-room furniture checklist to take the nerves out of the process and help you feel prepared for the big change.

Starting off strong with the living room, the space most seen by all who enter your abode. Comfort is an utmost priority when furnishing these spaces, but like your style, it can look different from person to person. Be sure to consider the space you have to work with, and make sure to measure – you may want to keep it small with a two-seater, or go for large with a corner sofa. If it's your style, perhaps opt for some rugs if your living room has solid floors for some warmth underfoot. Storage space is important to consider, as lacking in this can lead to a space feeling cluttered - this can be incorporated into the TV Unit, or coffee table. The focal points of any living room are usually:
Coffee Tables, Footstools and Side Tables

The average person spends between 7-9 hours sleeping per night, so why wouldn't you dedicate the time to curating your bedroom space? The bedroom is an area of your home where utility is just as valuable as aesthetic appeal, so balancing these elements can be a challenging but exciting aspect of furnishing. Of course, your bed may be the most important part, but the utility of storage spaces such as wardrobes, sideboards and side tables cannot be overstated. Plus, a set of drawers can double as a suitable unit on which you could place a TV stand. So don't forget, when furnishing your bedroom, you'll most likely need:
Bed Frames and Mattresses

The kitchen and/or dining room can be the most integral room(s) of the house. Used daily for cooking and eating, or occasionally for gatherings or parties, how the space is used while furnishing can determine the practicality. There's much to consider; from fridges to counter space, whether you can fit both a washing machine and dishwasher, to how many people you want to seat regularly at your dinner table. You'll want to be thinking about all of the following:
Fridge and Oven
Kettle and Microwave (optional)
Washing Machine and Dishwasher

The Bathroom
This may not be the first place your mind travels to when thinking about furnishing your home, but that doesn't mean it's any less important. Hopefully, the basic utilities of a toilet and shower are already included, but if not? Probably a good idea to think about those first and foremost. Once that's covered, your next stop will likely be storage. It can't be overstated how significant bathroom storage can be, and you'll be thanking yourself once you've done those bigger shops. Cabinets and shelving are highly beneficial for reducing the appearance of clutter, and you may also want to consider mirrors and bathmats for those extra touches. All in all, you'll want:
Bath/Shower Mats
