Types of Fabric Sofa

Fabric 2 Seater Sofas

A fabric 2 seater sofa is perfect for smaller living rooms, snugs and flats, or as a partner to a larger sofa. Designs such as the Amor, Esme and Herrington are available as both a 2 seater and a 3 seater, so you can create a matching sofa set. Browse all of our 2 seater sofas.

Fabric 3 Seater and 4 Seater Sofas

A 3 seater fabric sofa gives the whole family space to sit together, while a 4 seater sofa such as the Herrington 4-Seater or the Galloway Modular 4 Seater Sofa offers even more room to stretch out. The Kendal is also available as a 2.5 seater for rooms that sit somewhere in between. Browse all of our 3 seater sofas.

Fabric Corner Sofas

A fabric corner sofa makes the most of an L-shaped layout and seats more people without taking over the room. Our fabric corner sofas include the Kingsbury, available in several corner configurations, the Galloway Modular U-Shaped Sofa and the Lounge Modular Sofa. See our full range of corner sofas.

Fabric Recliner Sofas

A fabric recliner sofa combines soft upholstery with the comfort of a reclining seat. Many of our recliners are power recliners, also known as electric recliners, that recline smoothly at the touch of a button. Designs include the Chloe, Finch, Hugo, Simba and Osaka, and some models add a console or drop-down table. Explore all of our recliner sofas.

Fabric Sofa Beds

A fabric sofa bed gives you a comfortable sofa by day and a spare bed by night. Our range includes the Kendal Sofa Bed, the Hush Universal Chaise Sofa Bed, the Resto Chaise Sofa Bed and the Indiana Power-Reclining Sofa Bed. See all of our sofa beds.

Chesterfield-Style Fabric Sofas

If you prefer a classic look, our chesterfield-inspired fabric sofas, including the Icon, Richmond and Chester, bring timeless style in a soft, modern fabric. Several of these ranges also include a matching chaise, armchair or footstool.

How to Choose the Right Fabric Sofa

Choosing Your Fabric

Our fabric sofas are upholstered in a range of materials, from soft chenille and premium woven fabrics to linen-style weaves, with velvet-style finishes on selected designs. Chenille and velvet-style fabrics feel plush and sumptuous, woven fabrics are hard-wearing and great for busy homes, and linen-style fabrics give a relaxed, natural look. Check each product page for the fabric options available on that design.

Choosing Your Colour

Neutral shades such as beige and grey are easy to style and work with almost any décor, while brown adds warmth. If you want your sofa to be a statement piece, green, blue and orange fabric sofas bring colour and personality to the room. Add scatter cushions in an accent colour to tie the look together.

Choosing Your Size

Measure the wall where your sofa will sit, leave space for a walkway and a coffee table, and check the width and depth on each product page. Use the width filter above to narrow the range, and remember to measure doorways, hallways and stairs on the delivery route too.

Choosing Your Comfort Level

Many of our fabric sofas carry a comfort rating from 1 (Cloudlike) to 5 (Firm). Softer seat cushions and deep seating are perfect for lounging, while a firmer seat with good back support suits anyone who prefers to sit upright.

Fabric Sofa FAQs

Are fabric sofas good for homes with children or pets?

Yes, if you choose the right fabric. Tightly woven, hard-wearing fabrics cope well with everyday family life, and darker or patterned shades are better at hiding marks. Avoid loose weaves if your pets like to climb on the sofa, as claws can catch on them.

Should I choose a fabric sofa or a leather sofa?

Choose a fabric sofa if you want a soft, warm feel and the widest choice of colours and textures. Choose a leather sofa if you want a surface that is quick to wipe clean. Fabric sofas are often more affordable than leather sofas of a similar size.

How do I clean a fabric sofa?

Vacuum your sofa regularly with a soft brush attachment, and plump and rotate the cushions to help them keep their shape. Deal with spills straight away by blotting gently with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing. Always check the care instructions supplied with your sofa before using any stain remover or cleaning product.

Are fabric sofas durable?

Yes. A well-made fabric sofa with a strong frame and good-quality upholstery will last for many years. Every NCF Living sofa comes with our Lifetime Sofa Guarantee, which covers the structural frame, subject to terms and conditions.

Can I buy a fabric sofa on finance?

Yes. You can spread the cost with up to 36 months 0% interest-free credit on orders of £1,750 or more, subject to status. Find out more about our finance options.

Can I see your fabric sofas in a showroom?

Yes. You can see and feel many of our fabric sofas in person at NCF Living showrooms across the UK, which is the best way to compare fabrics and comfort levels. Use our store locator to find your nearest showroom.

How quickly can you deliver my fabric sofa?

Many of our fabric sofas are available for fast UK delivery. See our delivery details for current timescales.
